Hello everyone! It's been a while since the last devlog, but a lot of progress has been made during the time since the last one. Most of the progress is related to stages not included in the demo, such as stages 2, 3, and 4. While not fully complete, I am happy to say they are playable. One of them is a SHMUP-styled submarine stage, so look forward to that in the final release of the game. Other than that, there are a bunch of bug fixes, new features,  and graphical improvements that are present in the demo.

Here are the various updates that have been made to the demo.

  • Imprisoned TentaCats have been added to each stage (with the exception of Stage 1 - Act 1). Freeing them requires finding a key.
  • The map has been updated to reflect the themes of the stages.
  • Stage 1 - Act 1 has been converted into a tutorial stage with signs that teach the players the basics of the game.
  • The stage 1 background graphics have been updated to give it more detail.
  • The frog enemy now has a stun animation.
  • Minor tweaks have been made to the player camera.
  • Shop portals have been added to each stage, making the shop more accessible to the player.
  • Various layout changes have been made to stage 1 in order to accommodate the improved camera.
  • The waterfall sprites now have a cool dithering effect.
  • Rather than pricing the unfinished jellyfish power-up to a crazy high number, the item is now marked as "Sold Out" along with a matching dialogue segment by Dr. Schenkenberg.
  • An attract mode has been added, which shows the computer playing the game if the player idles long enough on the title screen.
  • A timer has been added to the HUD, which keeps track of how long the player has been playing.
  • Power-up items found in stages are added to the inventory, rather than being immediately activated.
